Lottie Animation Downloads: Free and Paid Sources
These nine sources offer Lottie animation libraries, with a mixture of free selections, account-based downloads and paid collections. A free preview or a royalty-free licence does not mean every animation is free to download. Check the selected file’s format, access requirements and licence before using it in a project.
For creation tools, see our Lottie animations guide. For WordPress integration, our Lottie animations article covers plugins; the LottieFiles Free link covers Figma plugins. These are supporting workflows, not three separate download libraries.
Choose a source by the job and its terms
- Public community animations: start with LottieFiles and check the selected file’s licence and download options.
- Animated interface icons: compare Lordicon’s free selection, which requires credit, with Lottieflow’s free-account JSON downloads for Webflow.
- Illustrations or a matching pack: use the other collections below, distinguishing a free sample from the complete paid pack. A matching visual style can matter more than the total library size.
Before adding animations, check playback in your actual web or app player. JSON, a GIF preview and an After Effects project are different deliverables. For projects exploring SVG approaches, the linked free animations tools are another starting point.
Use motion to explain a state or action, and provide a quieter alternative for people who prefer reduced motion. The prefers-reduced-motion documentation explains detecting that preference; a Lottie player’s behaviour still needs to be handled by your implementation. We have not measured conversion or retention gains from these libraries.

Lottiefiles

Free and premium collections. LottieFiles combines community animations with paid content and creation tools. Public animation files covered by its Lottie Simple License permit commercial use and modification under that licence; attribution is encouraged rather than required. This is not a blanket licence for every marketplace item or a promise that every platform feature is free. Check the selected asset and available download format in your account.
Lordicon

Free icons with attribution; separate paid access. Lordicon specialises in animated interface icons. Its free-use guidance permits commercial projects but requires credit and restricts redistribution of the icons as standalone assets. Choose a free icon and follow its attribution instructions, or check the current PRO licence if you need paid assets or no-credit use. The free selection is only part of the catalogue.
Lottieflow

Free account required. Finsweet describes Lottieflow as downloadable JSON icon animations for Webflow. Its workflow lets you choose an icon, change its colour and easing, then download it. This is a practical starting point for Webflow interactions; check any terms applying to your intended reuse rather than treating the free-account label as a licence for redistribution.
IconsCount Lottie Animations

Mixed marketplace access. IconScout offers Lottie assets alongside other illustration and icon formats. Its freebies programme offers selected assets through a free account; that does not make the whole catalogue free. Check the licence displayed for the individual animation and whether the download includes Lottie JSON, rather than relying on a broad library count.
Icons8

Check the animation and export format. This Icons8 page browses animated illustration styles. Its illustration trial page advertises JSON, GIF and After Effects formats as subscription trial access; the current free entitlement for a particular illustration must be checked separately. Free animated-icon terms are a different product category and should not be assumed to cover this entire illustration library.
Creattie

Free-filtered selection alongside paid plans. The existing link opens Creattie’s free-filtered illustration catalogue. Its pricing page lists paid plans and animated JSON/Lottie exports. Confirm that the selected illustration and required format are available in your account, and read the project-use restrictions in the Creattie licence. We have not completed an account download to verify this selection’s current free allowance.
LottieFolder

Now redirects to motiopix; free and paid listings. The existing LottieFolder address leads to motiopix, a marketplace for Lottie and Rive animations. Its catalogue includes items marked Free as well as priced assets. Choose the correct format and check the item’s licence; a Rive file is not a drop-in Lottie JSON file. The original resource link is retained.
Drawer

Paid packs with selected freebies. Drawer lists themed animation packs and some free resources, including Coronavirus Icons and Ugly Delicious animated illustrations. Use the item page to distinguish a free pack from a paid collection and confirm its terms before client use. The free Avatar Library is an illustration resource, so do not assume it supplies Lottie animation files.
Motion Elements

Royalty-free marketplace; not a blanket free-download library. MotionElements supplies Lottie JSON animations. Its Lottie page describes buying an animation and explains that royalty-free refers to the licence model after payment, rather than a zero price. Check the selected item’s price, licence and download format before choosing it for a project.
